F·E·G·S has long provided a comprehensive range of services to individuals who are deaf, deaf-blind, or hard of hearing. With the merger of New York Society for the Deaf into F·E·G·S in January 2006, F·E·G·S NYSD Services offers greatly expanded, specialized assistance for individuals who are deaf, deaf-blind, hard of hearing, and who may also have mental illness, a developmental disability, or a chemical dependency. Primary services include: mental health and substance abuse counseling; day treatment, vocational rehabilitation; training and employment; residential services for individuals with mental illness or developmental disabilities; socialization programs; and HIV/AIDS case management. Many staff are fluent in sign language; interpreter services are also available.
